  • Renault HBC's styling will be inspired by Duster.
  • The platform and engine options would be the same as Triber MPV.
Renault India is planning to introduce a sub-4-meter SUV on the heels of the Triber MPV in the country. Reports suggest that the new sub-compact SUV has been codenamed as HBC while it is expected to hit the Indian roads by mid-2020. The new Renault HBC will take on the likes of Ford EcoSportMahindra XUV300Maruti Vitara BrezzaTata Nexon and Hyundai Venue. The French automaker, taking cues from Kwid and Triber, is aiming for a belligerent pricing. The rendering artists have made a digital replica of the SUV.

It is being learned that Renault will use the same versatile CMF-A+ architecture for the new small SUV, identical to Kwid and Triber. The styling could also be on similar lines as the Duster since the new-gen Duster SUV is not slated for launch anytime soon in the Indian market. It can also be termed as a 'mini' version of the Duster, going by the rendered image. The sub-compact SUV will feature sleek projector headlamps with LED DRLs, triple-slat front grille housing the Renault logo in the middle and blackened pillars. The company might also introduce dual-tone color variants in the range-topping trims. The cabin could boast of several premium features in form of touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, and steering mounted audio and phone controls.

Talking about the Renault HBC safety features, it will have dual front airbags, ABS, a seatbelt reminder system, rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX child seats as standard fitments. The company, in all likelihood, will introduce the HBC in petrol fuel trim with a BS-VI certified 1.0L turbocharged engine. It could be offered with a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox.
